Are 3D printed interior features durable? What materials are used?
A common misconception is that 3D printed objects are fragile. When creating custom 3D printed interior features, we utilize industrial-grade materials specifically chosen for their durability and suitability for interior environments.
Structural Polymers
For large elements like furniture or heavy wall panels, we use strong thermoplastics such as PETG, ABS, or ASA. For applications requiring extreme rigidity, we use polymers reinforced with chopped carbon fiber or glass fiber. These materials are incredibly robust and impact-resistant.
The Importance of Post-Processing
The durability and aesthetic quality are dramatically enhanced during the finishing stage. We apply specialized epoxy coatings, automotive-grade primers, and hard-wearing paints. This not only creates a luxurious finish (like polished metal or glossy ceramic) but also seals the print, protecting it from UV light, moisture, and daily wear and tear.
